Greeks Strike Over Spending Cuts Before Crucial Vote

This article addresses the Greek economic system and how the government is planning to fix the recession. Since 2009, the government has made a series of cuts to avoid national bankruptcy, however the Greeks are enraged and are unwilling to undergo another serious pension cut. Thousands of Greeks, belonging to the two largest labor unions, began a two day strike that immensely hurt the nation. Schools, banks, and local government offices had to by shut down and public transportation was stopped. The government has encouraged people to endure these cut because they are the only thing that is going to fix the economy, but the people are tired of broken promises and do not believe that this system is working. The nation is coming to a standstill; all flights are being canceled, ships are stuck in harbors, and taxis refuse to provide services. In this upcoming election, the senators who are supporting these cuts are not favored to win.
