Sandy: Haiti appeals for international help after storm

Haiti, already being one of the poorest countries in the Western hemisphere, is continually being knock down by natural disasters and epidemics. Hurricane Sandy, though it barely touched Haiti, still destroyed 70% of its Southern crops. This country is in a desperate condition, which is something the author made clear rhetorically. They appealed to pathos by piling on the many things that just continue to destroy Haiti. Forcing the reader to feel horrible as they look upon the face of the little girl, lying in a hospitable cot; the picture the author chose for their story. It is amazing how the world's resources are so plentiful, yet some countries are living in debris constructed shelters while others have million dollar mansions. This country has been hit by an earthquake only two years ago, now a hurricane, and not to mention they have the largest outbreak of cholera in the history of the world. How is that fair? Nature just won't let them recover, it almost seems like we're being forced to look at them so that we gain the desire to help.
