Untouchable in Iraq, Ex-Sniper Dies in a Shooting Back Home

Untouchable in Iraq, Ex-Sniper Dies in a Shooting Back Home

Authors Manny Fernandez and Michael Schwirtz introduce the article with a description of Chris Kyle and his role as “one of America’s deadliest military snipers”. They first employ logos and give information about the shooting at the range. After sharing the story, Fernandez and Schwirtz go in depth about the sniper as they introduce the foundation that he created, Fitco Cares Foundation, and a best selling autobiography, American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History. The authors take quotations from his novel giving Kyle his own sense of power and self in their article. They use pathos and Kyle’s quotations to illustrate the concerned and passionate American that served our country. The authors return to the story and through the use of logos deliver more details about the murder of Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield. The authors return back to pathos towards the end of the article and illustrate all that Kyle has done for veterans and Americans. The closing lines highlight the fact that he was selfless and that he truly wanted to help other veterans, leaving readers with the final impression of a true American hero.
